On June 2, 2022, the delegation of AIT Vietnam (Asian Institute of Technology – AITCV) visited Dalat University to discuss implementing potential cooperation programmes between the two sides under the Memorandum of Understanding signed previously. Within the framework of this business trip, members of the AITCV conducted two important academic activities: Seminar on artificial intelligence and digital transformation; and Seminar on sharing experiences of international publication for lecturers and researchers of the University.
Members of the AITCV delegation include Dr. Phung Van Dong – Director of AIT Vietnam; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Thanh – Former Director of AIT Vietnam; Dr. Tran Anh Quan – Head of Digital Transformation Department; Mr. Vi Dang Anh Khoa – Programme Officer.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to start the implementation of the international Bachelor’s – Master’s integrated educational programme with two programmes in Information Technology and Business Administration. This integrated programme will provide students with a quality undergraduate and postgraduate education programme, ensuring the connection of knowledge and level of study, creating favorable conditions for senior university students to plan to study for a master’s degree so that they can graduate and receive bachelor’s and master’s degrees simultaneously in the shortest time. Detailed information about the programme will be continuously discussed by the two sides and there will be a roadmap for implementation as soon as possible.
The seminar on artificial intelligence and digital transformation was held on the morning of June 2, 2022. At the Seminar, Dr. Tran Anh Quan – Head of Digital Transformation Department of AITCV clarified the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in education in particular and society in general, and at the same time, gave an overview of the current situation of Vietnam’s AI community development compared to the world. Currently, artificial intelligence has made great progress, and has become one of the key technologies promoting the national digital transformation, from data digitisation, business processes to model transformation. In particular, the birth of the Dalat University Centre for Artificial Intelligence Education on May 7, 2022 is a favorable foundation to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence and digital transformation at Dalat University in particular and in Lam Dong province and the surrounding area in general.
The seminar on sharing experiences on international publication took place in the afternoon of the same day. Lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students listened to and discussed with Dr. Phung Van Dong about difficulties and challenges in the process of carrying out research. Dr. Phung Van Dong also shared about reading comprehension skills of research articles, how to discover new ideas, how to select the appropriate international journal through carefully studying the criteria and requirements of the journal to increase the possibility of being accepted. Publishing in prestigious international journals is of great significance to individual scientists because it will contribute to affirming the quality of research works, a measure of research capacity, and integration of the researchers. Improving the quality and quantity of international publications of each scientist will also contribute to improving the research and technological capacity of the University.
