On the afternoon of July 13, Dalat University held a Graduation Ceremony for two students of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from Champasak Province who graduated from the Bachelor’s programme in Environmental Science.
Student Mounthisene Chanthaphone, born on November 1, 1998, comes from “35km” village, Paksong district and student Manotham Saiyasack, born on August 24, 1999, comes from Saphay village, Xanasomboun district. Both were in the 41th Bachelor’s programme in Environmental Science, completed 131 credits as prescribed. Mounthisene Chanthaphone had a total GPA of 2.24, and Manotham Saiyasack had a GPA of 2.28.
Two new Bachelors of Environmental Science were recognised for their full-time programme graduation on June 25, 2021 by the President of Dalat University. After completing the Vietnamese language course for a year, in September 2017, two students were considered and admitted in Dalat University. These are the first two international students among 22 Lao students who came to study and live at Dalat University through the cooperation programme between Lam Dong and Champasak provinces, in November 2016.
Dr. Trinh Thi Tu Anh – Head of the Department of Research Affairs and International Relation, Dalat University, commented: “Overcoming the challenges and difficulties of learning a new language in a new environment, having to live away from family and friends, you have completed your academic tasks and are eligible to graduate and earn a bachelor’s degree. I hope you continue to strive harder, bring your wisdom and enthusiasm to build a rich and beautiful homeland, and at the same time continue to be important bridges for the friendship between Vietnam and Laos in the future”.
Previously, on April 19, 2021, at Dalat University, in the presence of the Deputy Consulate General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vanxay Saysena, and many delegates from Lam Dong province, Dalat University, the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association in Lam Dong province solemnly held a ceremony to welcome 22 Lao students to meet with their host families in Lam Dong province.
