In order to improve soft skills for students majoring in education, on the morning of January 16, 2021, at Dalat University Central Library, the Faculty of Education organised a seminar with the topic “Be a smart consumer of information” with the presentation of the speaker – journalist Le Thanh Phong.

Attending the programme were the Dean’s Committee, lecturers of the Faculty of Education and nearly 200 students from all departments of the Faculty of Education.

At the seminar, speaker-journalist Le Thanh Phong presented issues related to the purpose of using the internet and social media of Vietnamese people. In particular, he focused on presenting the characteristics, classification and identification of fake news in newspapers and social networks – a problem that directly affects students. At the same time, speaker – journalist Le Thanh Phong shared with students his experiences in managing, selecting and mastering information to be able to access the most accurate and useful information.

Overview of the seminar

Besides, the speaker answered many students’ questions on journalism, fake news, how to handle if they become a victim of fake news, and shared experiences on effective learning and research methods.

The seminar helped students of the Faculty of Education of the University have more skills in identifying and selecting information, thereby helping them to achieve the output standards for students in education major to adapt to the changing context of education today.
