(Lam Dong online) – Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and his wife had a visit to Dalat University. Welcoming the delegation were the leaders of the Board of Trustees, Executive Board, and representatives of related departments and faculties.

Leaders and scientists of Dalat University guided former Prime Minister Ehud Barak to visit the laboratory, biology and agroforestry conservation room and the university campus.

Representative of the leaders of Dalat University, Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang shared an overview of the university’s innovation and development; Special emphasis is placed on the position of Dalat University as a training, research and technology transfer center in the Central Highlands and central coastal provinces. At the same time, it is hoped that through the former Prime Minister, Dalat University can continue to develop cooperative relations with Israeli training and scientific research institutions.

Previously, Dalat University and the Ramat Negev International Training Center for Advanced Agriculture (RNIT) of Israel signed a memorandum of understanding. The students were directly interviewed by the Center to select 15 students aged from 20 to 30; graduated from agronomy, post-harvest technology, or biotechnology majors; have the ability to communicate in English, work hard to learn and accumulate achievements on smart agriculture and Israeli culture to participate in the 11-month training program at the RNIT Center.

It is known that the training cooperation program between Dalat University and Israel started in 2012. To date, more than 120 third and fourth year students have been trained in Israel. After the training courses, students all achieved good results and returned to work in Vietnam; in which, many students have achieved success in the field of modern agriculture in Lam Dong Province.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak also briefly introduced some of Israel’s achievements, a country with only nearly 10 million people but with a very developed economy with a GDP of more than 400 billion USD. The cooperation between Vietnam and Israel has always been appreciated by the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, science – technology, innovative start-ups, labor, tourism, etc.

Many Vietnamese research and start-up teams have come to Israel to gain experiences. These are the foundations for further elevating the relationship between the two countries in order to practically celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1993 – 2023) between Vietnam and Israel.

For Dalat University, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak acknowledged and praised the effective cooperation spirit between the university and Israeli partners in recent years. Especially the spirit of entrepreneurship, curiosity and hard work of the students to develop themselves and contribute to Vietnamese society.
